Draft Committee: Chairperson Steve Prutzer (Cardinals), Kevin Fleming
(Yankees), Jim Shaughnessy (Athletics), Ron Christie (Giants), Ken Freitas
(Dodgers) and Gerry Jeromski (Tigers). This committee worked together to
complete a procedure to implement our 2003 pre-season player draft. This
included complicated draft slotting, seeding and special trade requests.
Schedule Committee: Chairperson Kevin Fleming (Yankees), John Saunders (White Sox), Dave Perrin (Phillies), Ken Freitas (Dodgers), Dave Donahue (Tigers), Jim Shaughnessy (Athletics). This committee worked together to develop our current regular season and playoff schedule, which has evolved in many ways from single elimination playoffs to double elimination to our current and popular bracket play system. Rules, Regs And Bylaw Committee: Chairperson John McCusker - retired (Red Sox), John Saunders (White Sox), Glen Geikie (Twins). This committee worked together to revise our rules and by-laws every off-season for board approval at our annual meeting in December. Critical issues such as player eligibility, availability, conduct issues and many more are constantly reviewed for improvement. Field Committee: Chairperson Chris Augeri (Marlins), Kevin Crampton (Tigers), Lenny Wagner (Marlins), Frank Goode (Marlins), Evan Schapiro (Tigers), Warren Macneil (Braves). This committee worked together to obtain the best fields possible to play on. Kevin Crampton was able to obtain permission to use Ferullo Field, Lenny Wagner for Dracut HS, Evan Schapiro for Westford VFW and Frank Goode for Chelmsford HS Field. Warren Macneil prepares fields by raking, leveling and lining all star and championship game fields as well as all Braves games. Umpire COMMITTEE: Chairperson Tim Brooks (Athletics), Domenic Caraco (Giants), Brian Miner (Dodgers), Tom Walsh (Cardinals), John Shaheen (Greater Lowell Umpire Assoc). This committee was instrumental to the success of our 2003 season. Confronted with an unforeseeable umpire assignment issue, they were able to organize and schedule an effective pool of umpires just before the start of the season. In addition, they developed an agreement with new umpire assignor John Shaheen and together effectively resolved any umpire/player issues during the season. PURCHASING COMMITTEE: Chairperson Chris Augeri (Marlins), Evan Schapiro (Tigers), Kevin Crampton (Tigers), Mike McNally (White Sox) and John Saunders (White Sox). This committee worked together as the purchasing agent for OTB. Kevin Crampton handled the purchasing of baseballs, equipment and uniforms at very competitive prices through Champion Choice in Wilmington. Mike McNally resolved our uniform shirt dilemma by searching the Internet for MLB replica jerseys consistent with current styles (new MLB styles very different and not desirable for OTB). A Florida source was located with lower than usual prices and as a result, OTB was able to obtain extra shirts for next year. John Saunders has also used the Internet to purchase team bats at substantially reduced prices. In the past, Frank Serafini (Giants) purchased for OTB for many years. Joe Gouveia (Pirates) and Steve Johanson (Cubs) have also helped us purchase terrific equipment, uniforms and trophies for OTB. DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE: Chairperson Gerry Jeromski (Tigers), Duffy Thomas (Cubs), John Saunders (White Sox), Tom Walsh (Cardinals). This committee worked together to resolve player/manager conduct issues during the season by maintaining high standards of conduct as well as ensuring fairness and consistency. WEBSITE COMMITTEE: Chairperson and webmaster - Tony Coppola (Marlins), Scott Metro (Marlins), Bob Conway (Yankees). Tony developed this highly popular and effective means of communication for which we have all come to rely upon throughout the league including schedules, highlights, standings, league news and other important info. Scott and Bob helped Tony with maintenance and upgrades including our "leaders" page and other helpful tools. PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE: Chairperson Dave Donahue (Tigers) and Bill Tancreti (White Sox). This committee was formed to assist in the development of OTB within the communities in which we play, such as Lowell, Westford, Dracut, Chelmsford, Woburn etc.. The first task of this committee was to establish a fundraising activity to help support charities within these areas. Most recently, Bill and Dave organized our 2nd annual golf tournament, which turned out to be a terrific success. AUDITING COMMITTEE: Chairperson Paul Pusterino (Twins), Mike Gilronan (White Sox), Domenic Caraco (Giants), Kevin Fleming (Yankees), Evan Schapiro (Tigers) and Brian Miner (Dodgers). This committee was formed to perform oversight of our finances and to provide recommendations to better manage purchasing, record keeping and disbursements. NOMINATING COMMITTEE: Chairperson Glen Geikie (Twins) and Duffy Thomas. This committee has worked to evaluate leadership within OTB for positions including officers and managers. Recommendations by the committee are made at the annual meeting in December when such changes are made. BANQUET COMMITTEE: John Gianino and his wife Mary. John has organized our banquet every year since he founded OTB in 1992 and Mary has created the beautiful centerpieces we have all enjoyed. OTHER MENTIONS: Lenny Wagner (Marlins) developed our league patch. Gerry Jeromski (Tigers) is our announcer and official scorer at league championship games and has created scoring handbook reference guides. |
