NOTB League Update

Wednesday, April 28th:
The first-annual NOTB 2004 draft took place this past Sunday, April 25th.

The next order of business for NOTB will be an orientation for all players to be held on May 16th at 7:00 pm at the Centralville Social Club. Rules will be discussed and shirts, hats and schedules will be issued.

NOTB League Update

Thursday, March 25th:
Registration for OTB’s new night league is now complete. All current roster openings have been filled. Players should check back to the webpage for announcements and updates as well as the possibility that we may reopen registration if another field becomes available.

Friday, March 19th:
Registration for NOTB is now open.

Paper registrations can be mailed to Chris Augeri at the address listed on the form (5 Lamb Street, Lowell, MA 01854) or they can be dropped off at Chris’ house.

Just like in OTB, players must complete the registration form, waiver and payment before they can be accepted. Registration is scheduled to close on April 21st (or sooner if responses are overwhelming) and the draft to take place on Sunday, April 25th.

Field permits have been completed and depending on interest, NOTB night games will be played on the following nights:

Over Thirty Baseball is announcing a new extension to its Sunday-morning league, "N.O.T.B" - a baseball league that plays strictly weeknight baseball games.

Benefits of the new league:

Members of these new teams will get to know more OTB players as teammates rather than opponents (as they usually are on Sunday).
Encourage those who don’t get to play another position (like pitch or catch) on Sunday to be able to get a chance to try it in this league.
It will play one-third of all games as wooden bat-only games as an experiment. Great place to finally tryout this idea!

The N.O.T.B. league will run on its own under the guidance of O.T.B. Inc. and will embody the same philosphy and spirit of our existing league, with the same fairness, fun and camaraderie that we've become used to. While the details are still being worked out on rules, guidelines, rosters, uniforms, schedules, uniforms, field permits, etc., N.O.T.B.'s goal is to form a league that will:

Form a minimum of 4 teams with approximately 12-13 players each
Play a 6-9 game schedule, from early June to early August
Play 7 inning games
Use 1 umpire per game
Play weeknight games preferably in the middle of the week (Tue/Wed/Thu)
Keep costs at a minumum for the inaugural season by utilizing existing equipment and uniforms (except for costs of hats and shirts)
Allow up to 25% of league players to be non-OTB players for the inaugural season
